9-1 thru 9-4 Yellow Bullet Nationals
Thursday - Pro Torque test day: A big thank you out to Joe at Pro Torque for providing a test session for us. We got out there and tested the water a bit. The day netted some promise but ended with a blown out pump gasket on the Transmission. Thanks to my crew and Joe at J&E that was taken care of that night and we were ready to go come morning.

Friday - Testing during the day went well with the car picking up each and every pass and ending with a 4.48 @ 179. Not bad for Cecil County a track that is known to be a slick tire track and brings fear to the radial world. I will admit they did a fantastic job with the prep this weekend.

Friday - Night: It's time to go racing and we got a real strong field of cars. This event attracted all the top dogs and really made me want to step up the game. We knew that this night time qualifier was our best shot to put up a number and conditions were as good as we were going to see this week end. Well this was the high of the event for us when the board lit up with a 4.412 @ 183.84 mph a new personal best, the #1 spot by more then a tenth and a track record. We were done for the night.

Saturday - Qualifying continued and on our first attempt at the track we got a bit out of shape and tapped the wall. Fortunately most of the damage was cosmetic and with the help of my Crew, DMC, Mickey Thompson and K&K. We were able to get the car back out there for the final qualifier. On our final shot at the track we were hoping for that magic 4.3x run, but it wasn't meant to be. The car left hard and straight but blazed the tires 100 ft out. We were done for the night but felt real good about our # 1 spot. The car continued to improve with each and every pass.

Sunday - Eliminations: Today is the hottest day of the weekend and the track was hot and greasy. This was a real challenge for the radial class fortunately I had gotten a buy first round and was able to test the waters a bit. First hit we didn't move an inch before we blazed the tires. This was setting the tone we knew we had to dial the car back a ton till the sun went down. Well we never made it that far, losing in the quarterfinals with an aborted run due to the car making a move to the centerline.

Over all we were real happy with the performance of the team and the car. Leaving with the track record and a quarterfinal finish was real rewarding. A huge congrats to Alex Vrettos on the win, way to represent. Go Team North lolÉ

August 6th, 2011 - Cecil County Dragway / Finishline Performance Outlaw Street Car Shootout
This event started off on a bad note struggling to make it down the track during the Friday test session. Saturday came and the track seemed to come around with the help of the track personnel. With a real soft tune up we qualified #4 with a 5.09. We were having issues with the transmission that were very strange and left us a bit lost looking for answers. We had no second gear and couldn't understand why. We went thru the trans and the swapped the converter for first round and managed to win with a 4.99 to a 5.0. Still no second gear we were lost. Lucky for us the event was call due to rain because we were done regardless. I couldn't risk hurting something because of this issue. We later found the issue and man was it a freaky one. Boy I am glad that's behind us because we are making some great progress and can't wait to hit the track again.

Updates From Team Major
08/17/2011 - Man oh Man! What in the world has team Major been up to. TESTING, TESTING and TESTING!!! Well we decided with the hot months upon us we were not going to set the world on fire. So we decided that this would be a great time to try out some new stuff and work on a few bugs that were tormenting me.

First thing was we needed to beef things up a bit after shearing the pinion off at The Shake Down South so DMC changed out my 1350 stuff to 1480. Dennis added some additional safety loops and took care of the damage from the driveshaft whipping around as well.

Then we hit the dyno and the track testing all kinds of things from tune up to converters. Wow I could not believe how much data we were able to obtain during these test sessions. It also allowed me the much-needed time to really try and understand and navigate thru my Pro EFI System. I am still not utilizing so many of the options and benefits this system has to offer. I need to send out a huge thank you to Job and Jason for taking the time to educate me and pushing me to learn the system.

As for converters, all I can say is Joe at Pro Torque is one dedicated, determined professional. I stress professional this guy has given my program some crazy flexibility with his converters and his program is locked in. We have played with quite a few and I will tell you. Tell him want you want to see and he will give it to you. We had a bunch of stuff that we wanted to try, some of it good, some of it not so good but the converter always did what we asked of it. Thank you Joe for your continued support.

Well it's hard to do all this testing without some carnage and some carnage is what we got. Dropping a valve on the dyno had us trashing a bit. This brought on a huge change to the team. After many successful seasons working with PCHS, Richie found his shop a bit overwhelmed with work and unable to meet the needs of his growing custom base and our program. After talking a bit we decided that it was in my best interest to work with a new engine builder. I want to thank Rich for the many years that we worked together. The guy never complained and always made it happen. We had some killer seasons together setting records and winning races. I understand his position and appreciate his honesty. I value his friendship and his talent and would recommend him to all.

J&E Performance to the rescue, well it should be no surprise as to where I went for help. It would only make sense to go to the guy that helps any and every racer in need at the track. Joe has always been there trackside to help me no matter what the issue. He has rebuilt transmission at events and even jumped in wrenching when I was trashing between rounds. He was a true supported and he didnÕt even work on my stuff. So obviously he was my first choice when the question as to who was going to take over the engine program. Well I call Joe and asked him if was interested and he said no problem drop everything off and let's see what we got. Lol... Man he said, "drop everything off". So I sent him everything! I think he is still going thru the parts. We were getting ready to put a spare bullet together so we had lots of stuff. Joe got right to work ordering a new sleeve and freshen everything up. In an effort to save some time, we asked Richie (PCHS) to take care of freshening the heads. Still a go to guy for me; thank you Richie. Joe got me back up and running in record time. It was exactly what I expected, fast reliable service.

We are real excited to get back out there and race and are looking forward to the killer events on our schedule.

SGMP Radial Redemption Report
SGMP Radial Redemption 01/27/11 - South Georgia Motorsports Park - Talk about a killer way to start off the season. We couldn't be happier with the performance of the car and the team. We busted our buts this week end going out there untested, yet finding a way to set a new personal best with back to back runs 4.45 and 4.44. This race was full of the closest, most exciting heads-up racing I have ever been a part of. My heart is still pumping with adrenaline. It was awesome to see all the fans and racers out in full force this early in the season.

We showed up to this event with a new converter, a gear change and a new engine program. With absolutely no data to work with we managed to qualify #7 with a struggling 4.60. This came after 2 wheelstands and a broken transmission. First round we had a little luck and had a competition single as our competitor was unable to make the call. Round #2 we found ourselves lined up against the current record holder, Kevin Fiscus. This was the closest race of the event. We pulled out the win with a margin of victory of just 2 hundredths of a second. Round #3 once again the competition was top notch as Eric Dillard took the tree and at the end the boards lit up with another side by side 4.4x race. How about a 4.40 to a 4.44; just unreal! Dillard took the win light but as a team we couldn't be happier and more excited about our performance and the upcoming season. Next Stop is The Shakedown South at West Palm in Jupiter, Florida. www.shakedownpbir.com/

Here we go again, Its time to go racing!!!
01/17/11 - The team could not be anymore excited about this up coming season. We are coming off a season of transition and rebuild, a season of testing and full of learning curves. With a few minor changes to our engine combo and nothing else we are looking forward to taking all the data from last season and build on it. Now its time to put all that together and get some wins. We feel that we have learned so much about our combination during the 2010 season one that was full of so many drastic changes, that we can now settle down and concentrate on being consistent. We know that is what is needed to win in OUTLAW DRAG RADIAL a class full of tough competitors. Please visit our 2011 schedule; it’s full of exciting events. We have a lot of traveling ahead of us this season and are actively seeking sponsors to help us fulfill our goals. We feel that we can serve as a tremendous marketing tool for anyone that is looking to target the Drag Racing Community. Our program is always in the lime light and always pushing to support their partners/ sponsors. Feel free to contact me at anytime to customize a program that fits your needs.
My trip to Vegas and end of season Thanks
11/23/10 - Let me first say what a great bunch of racers on the West Coast. We had a great time and it was awesome to come out a play with you guys.

Special thanks to NY Motor Sports and Camphulk for their support. A big thank you to everyone who lent me parts and tools during my week end of endless wrenching, especially the Bowman crew, I hope to see you guys come February. To everyone that made it out to dinner Sunday night what a great time, great people and great friends truly the best part of the sport.

Well for my final event of the season I couldn't have asked for a better event. This was our 2nd time to Vegas and unfortunately we suffered the same results as the last time. We set the bar with a 6.85 @ 219. This was in my opinion a great pass considering the fact that we had lost our intercooler on the 1st qualifier and continued to race with crazy high intake air temps. Our issues didn't stop there after stumbling around looking for answers to why the car was just not performing to what we expected. We discovered that we had an issue with our torque converter.

This was a perfect opportunity to test our new Pro Torque Converter out with the old in with the latest and greatest in this case!!! We have been working with Joe for a while now but do to the inconsistence of my program this season. We were unable to get out and really test. This was just the second pass I made with one of Joe's units and let me tell you he's not getting this one back. There was just too much wrong with that last pass including losing a head gasket at the top of 1st gear and it still went 6.85. The car never staged so well and the lock up was just unreal. We are Very excited to start tuning to the characteristics of this unit and unveil the real potential. Thank you Joe.

On the way to the event Randy and Ellen made a little detour with the car to ProEFI. Jason and the crew took a few days to go thru the car and work on the wiring for our new Coil on plug set up and a hall effect crank trigger wheel. These upgrades will truly be a vital necessity in order for us to continue to push the envelope. Thanks for all the support this season Jason. We have made great progress.

Job you my friend is what keeps me going. Your talent continues to keep us running with the top of the class. When everyone is searching and looking for issues you get with the data and discover what most over look. Couldn't do it with out you thanks again.

Dennis and the crew at DMC what could I say the car speaks for its self. It’s one bad ass machine. It has never worked so good thanks for all the hard work this season.

Richie and the crew at PCHS talk about guys who get things done. Thanks guys for all the hard work this season the engine program is fantastic and you guys continue to make stuff happen with crazy time lines. Thank you we would have missed a lot of racing this season if it wasn't for your dedication.

To all my other sponsors Mickey Thompson, Manley, Diamond Pistons, Chiseled Performance, Kooks Custom Headers and Corvette Creationz. The products these vendors supply are top notch and I am privileged to be able to have their support. Thank you

Finally the biggest thank you has to go out to My Crew Robby and Steve all ways there to get it done. Team Valla, Team Corrupt, NY Motor Sports, Joe from J&E and his team, Joe from LI Custom Car Care you guys are all Great friends. Thanks so much for all the help this season great knowing you have good people that you can count on.

MIR World Cup Finals
11/05/10 - Yet another strong showing!!! After getting the car fixed up after The Shake Down, we set out to once again push the envelope. With a fresh bullet and few minor tweaks we began the event with a test session. A test session that netted some fantastic results, how about a new personal best 6.70 @ 225 mph. We couldn’t be more excited and looked forward to an awesome event. Unfortunately this event turned into the longest event ever. Cars breaking one after another, oil down after oil down delay after delay, just crazy mine shaft conditions and everyone pushing things to the limit hoping to set the world on fire. Well sadly we were also victims of the drastically changing conditions and eager to set the world on fire and we paid the price with tire smoke and wheel stands. The weekend ended with a first round lose after spinning the tires just before the sixty ft marker. We were done but went home in one piece and excited about our next event in Vegas.

Record setting performance #1 qualifier Low ET and Top MPH
10/03/10 - Englishtown, NJ - First off to Dave Hance; what a killer event! You, Michelle, Eddie and the whole E-town staff do an amazing job. This year, 8.50 Index racer Angelo Valla and myself thought it would be a great idea to hold my company picnic at The Shakedown at E-Town to give it a new twist. And now everyone at work has a little taste of the sickness that drives us in this crazy sport. They all had a great time and the texts and emails continue to pour in. Drag Racing picked up a bunch of new fans this past weekend. Thanks for all your help in making that happen.

Next would be my return to E-town after putting it into the wall last year. Well I couldn't be any happier with the way my car performed. My team is just awesome. I want to thank Dennis and the whole DMC Racing crew for doing an unbelievable job rebuilding the car. To Jason from Pro EFI; that system is just killer. You have been able to accomplish everything you promised and more. This system is the wave of the future in Outlaw Racing. Richie, (PCHS), this engine makes incredible power. Sorry about the 9200 rpm shift. That fucker just kept pulling. Job Spetter, you are the man! Everyone involved appreciates your input. Thanks so much for all your help and advice this season. You are the key to my success. My Crew, Robbie and Steve, thank you for the endless dedication.

We set the bar this past weekend with a stout 6.74 @ 223. This class is filled with a lot of great competitors and I am sure that they will be gunning for that record real hard. So we will continue to get after it and push the envelope each and every trip to the track. With the team that I have, I am confident that we will see mid to low 60s this season maybe even a high 50. Records are meant to be broken so let's go guys. Step it up and let's continue to have fun.

Here are the numbers:
1.205  60'
3.086  330'
4.519  1/8th
176.53  1/8th MPH
5.730  1000'
6.743  1/4
223.62  1/4 MPH
Not bad for just the 3rd 1/4 mile pass in a year. We learned a few things this past weekend and are making a few minor changes that we feel will net some nice results. I can't wait to get back out there.

BTW, Congrats to Mel Nelson and Team South for a great showing.
See everyone at ORTC

Yellow Bullet Nationals
09/04/10 Maiden Voyage and a semi final finish.

First, I could never have done it with out the help of my crew and all my sponsors. We set out on Thursday to start working out the bugs on a brand new car and man did we make some killer progress. With the help and dedication of my whole team that came out to support me at my first event since the Shakedown at E'Town last year, we managed to click off some killer numbers considering the conditions and issues that we had to contend with. DMC had the car leaving just perfect. Straight as could be, the car never felt so good. Jason from ProEFI was in town helping us sort thru the new computer and writing some new software that catered to our needs. This new system is just incredible. The car never ran so good, it’s clear that we are making a ton more power with the ProEFI over the DFI and can’t wait to get everything dialed in. The biggest thank you goes out to Job Spetter Jr. Job came out of retirement to help me out and even spent the day at the track with us Saturday. It was awesome having him there as a friend and as a tuner. Everyone enjoyed seeing him at the track again. His talent brings my program to a whole new level each and every time touches the car.

To all the racers and fans, thanks for all the support and good wishes. So many people stopped by and told me how great it is to see us back out with the Corvette again, it really felt good. I missed it a lot and after all the hard work and money spent, the whole experience makes it worth it. This sport is filled with great competitors as well as fans and I am glad to be a part of it.

Monty you and the whole Cecil crew did one hell off a job. It was a fantastic event. Can’t wait until next year.

04/29/10 - Still not finished for 2010. Here is a sneak peak of some of the new items for 2010.

KOOKS Custom Headers
04/13/10 - Well as everyone knows DMC has been busting their asses trying to get me out as soon as possible. Well it was time to work on new Headers and some revisions to the exhaust system. I need to send out a huge Thank You to KOOKS for the support this season. They provided us with all the material and technical input for the new headers and they worked out just awesome. Please visit their website to get a true feeling of their quality and support. KOOKS Custom Headers has been a leader in there industry for the longest time.

Taking The Season Opener In The Backup Car
04/06/10 – Well the season is in full swing and we are a bit behind schedule. In order to stay with in contention for the points Championship at Cecil, we took the Mid Year out for some track time. My 1966 Corvette has been there before. Running high 9’s on two aggressive stages of nitrous. For this trip we kept it simple with no shot of being a contender we ran on just motor. We secured 3 points by qualifying for the field and making first round. Mission accomplished!!!

It was great to be back at the track and Cecil ran an excellent event all but one class had full fields. There are a bunch of cars that are still in the works and are sure to be out in the coming weeks. This is sure to be one competitive season.

We are hoping to get regular coverage in a magazine as well as a high traffic website or an online magazine. This will help to give our sponsors the exposure they deserve. Our goal is to keep the car and all of our partners in the limelight during the off season.

11/16/09 The after math - Well we got the car stripped and apart to get a much better look at the damage. The car is repairable and DMC Racing has begun their work. 11/07/09 - The Shake Down at E-Town - Qualifying proved to be extremely challenging as we struggled to find the perfect tune up to get us down the track. We started eliminations in the middle of the pack with a weak 7.87 @ just 173 mph. Sunday started out with opening ceremonies that included the recognition of the 6 Second Drag Radial Club a huge mile stone in the class of Outlaw Drag Radial. A task that never would have been possible with out the hard work of my crew (Robby, Todd and Steve), DMC Racing, Turbo People and PCHS Racing Engines. This elite team has been there to support me thru the entire season and has always tackled the issues at hand no matter what the size. I am proud to share this achievement with them.

Yet Another Semi Final Finish
10/30/09 - Orlando World Street Nationals - Coming back to Orlando to defend last year's clean sweep took this race to a new level for us as a team. After our great performance in Bradenton and knowing we had 6-second power. We were as confident as we could be unfortunately this event was one that would be the turning point of our season. Fighting traction issues thru out qualifying we found our selves going into eliminations in the 21st spot. 1st round of eliminations would bring some hope with a pedaling 7.42 at only 192 mph. Round #2 would bring new issues we split the water core in our intercooler sending a spray of water into the engine. We won the round despite the problems. We went back to the pit and drained all the water and tried to blow out all the water from the intercooler and plumbing in order to make it to the semi finals. We made the call but were unable to get the job done. The car continued to misfire due to water that was trapped in the cores a repair that was impossible to get done in such limited time span. Big thanks to everyone that helped out during the scrabble including Team Corrupt. The sportsmanship in this class is second to none especially among Team North.

#1 Qualifier, Low ET, Top MPH And Semi-Final Finish
10/23/09 - Outlaw Radial Tire Championship - Well we went in to this event on a mission. The rules have finally been opened up a little to allow us to come and play. We were the car to beat starting off with our very first hit a 4.67 improving each and every pass during qualifying with a 4.64 and a 4.61 @ 172.7 mph securing the number one spot and top mph in qualifying. We were far from done this car has a ton of power and she was on a rail each and every pass. Sunday came it was time for eliminations we stepped up once again running back to back 4.58 at nearly 175 mph. Round # 3 we suffered a broken input shaft, although we coasted to a win. We were not able to get the repair done in time to make the call. We were done for the week end but held our heads high knowing we played with the best cars in the country on the same day, same track in the heat and we set the bar.

6.98 @ 210 Breaking Into The Very Elite 6 SECOND CLUB
10/14/09 - MIR Test session - We set out to dial the car in for some quarter mile action to get ready for The ShakeDown at E-town. To think that just a few weeks time we got the car dialed in and running with the top cars in the country is truly a rewarding feeling.

#1 Qualifier, Low ET, Top MPH And The Win!
10/03/09 Street Car Shootout - This was just the second time out with the new setup and we continued to make great progress. Running 4.87 @ 159 was good enough for low ET and Top MPH on a tricky track. The win came by way of a massive peddle fest due to the late night final with the dew hitting the track. Big Thank you out to my entire crew this was a great showing and things are going in the right direct.
Read about it on YellowBullet.com.
On Track; 4.89 @ 157 MPH
09/27/09 - Well how was that for a quick turn around? Set new records just two weeks ago with my LS engine, stripped all the small block stuff out. We installed new turbos and the new engine complete with a lot of plumbing and fabrication. Put the finishing touches on it at the track Saturday morning at the track. We missed the first qualifier but made the second a 4.89 @ 157. That was with a rough tune by Job no dyno just a guy knowing his stuff.

None of this would have been possible with out the help of Dennis and his whole crew at DMC Racing. We dropped the car off just a week ago with the engine just resting in place. They broke their asses all week long to pull it off.

Rich at PCHS Racing Engines built me another killer piece. Joe at long Island Custom thanks for helping me strip the old stuff out time was tight these last few weeks couldn’t have done it with out you.

A big thanks has to go out to Robby my main crew guy he is always jonnie on the spot. Lastly Mrs. Smith thanks for the food.

Stay tuned because RECORDS are about to broken!!!

LS Record Reset!
09/13/09 - Well this was my final outing with my LS setup it is time to step it up so we can hang with the Big Boys.

We started out with some rain, delaying our efforts. We came out looking to test converters on Friday, and get the best combo in for Saturday. We tested 3 converters and ended up running my original Neal Chance unit, but we did gain some good info.

Saturday came and we were itching to lay down a number but wanted to secure a spot in the ladder before we pushed the envelope first hit 7.39, Q2 7.21 matching my old record, Q3 we got out of the groove and shook the tires. E1 7.18 @ 202.67 4.76@161.23 1/8 new record, E2 This was ugly I screwed up and staged deep. Worried about red lighting I sat there like a duck. **** light cost me the round my 7.23 to the winning 7.26. That sucked but I wasn't done, Jason at MIR was just awesome he let me run after the elimination rounds. So T1 7.11 @ 204.08 with a 4.71@162.63 1/8 and a awesome 1.229 60ft we were pumped.T3 was our last shot we were going for it, car left like an animal 1.22 again 4.70 flat to the 1/8 lit the board up with a 7.12 we were done. It was a great time. That track was one of the best I have ever seen. BTW this was all done at a race weight of over 3400 lbs.

Special thanks to my crew Rob and Todd. Dennis from DMC this car never went so straight and hooked so hard. Job Spetter Jr you are magical, couldn't do it with out you. Rich from PCHS Racing Engines you have proven to be one of the best engine builders out there. Joe from LI custom thanks for all the last minute help.

Now it time to start a new era with our new 615 BBC. We will be putting the LS engine on the side to allow everyone else time to catch up. I haven't given up on the 6 sec quest just ran out of time. We need to get ready to rumble with the big dogs this October and for that we will be loaded for bear.

New Big Block

All Good After Cecil Mishap
06/06/09 - After a frustrating trip to the 1320x event at Milan Dragway, the Corvette Major team headed to Cecil County Dragway for a double header in the Outlaw Street Car Shootout Click for Photo Gallery. We were extremely confident going into the weekend knowing that DMC found the problem causing the car to unload the tires each and every run, (the new rear was bottoming out on the exhaust. First pass out on a soft tune we put up a 4.90 for the #1 qualifying spot. We finished qualifying in the #3 spot. The car was consistently 60 footing 1.27 – 1.28. This is the best the car has ever performed out of the hole. Unfortunately our weekend came to an abrupt end when we put it into the wall at the 1/8 mile marker causing some minor frame damage. The track was a bit tricky after 3 plus days of rain. The water was seeping thru the asphalt causing some havoc. It got the best of us this time but we learned a lot and we made some great progress with the overall setup on the car. We know we've got what it takes to run at the top of our class and can’t wait for the next event.

2009 New Look for Corvette Major

2009 Season is Under Way with a New Look
04/24/09 - Team Major is out testing with the new look that is similar yet different. Gone is the high rise hood replace by a low profile stock looking Motor City hood with the an elbow sticking out through the center. The whole car has been repainted in its familiar Silver with Orange stripes. Testing has begun for the season with chassis updates as well. To see more of the new look, click here or on the image.

The car was taken to DMC Racing for a final setup and we will be testing at New England Dragway tomorrow. We are really happy with the awesome elbow that was fabricated be John Marcella. NRG Tech took care of a ton of loose ends and the car is really taken shape. Paint was done by K&M Auto Body, West Babylon, NY.

Don't forget to visit our schedule to see where the Corvette Major Team will be racing. Schedule

03/31/09 - We had the chance to site down with Matt from TMK Photography and www.lsxtv.com for a one-on-one interview. It was a lot of fun and we thank lsxtv.com for the opportunity. Matt asks the questions you want the answers to. You can read the full interview on www.lsxtv.com.
Changes Underway for 2009
01/15/09 - Changes are under way for the 2009 season. The car is currently at DMC undergoing some safety upgrades that include a Floater Rear end and a second fire system. Next stop will be American Racing Headers where they will build a new set of headers for our new power plant set to make its debut by mid-season. PCHS is currently freshening our Warhawk engine and making a few minor tweaks along the way. NRG Tech will be the next stop where we will be revamping some of the existing wiring and making a few changes to the turbo plumbing. Last stop will be the paint shop for some minor body work and a new hood.

We have switched to Rossler Transmission for the 2009 season and they have built us a killer new Turbo Glide that we will be testing in the near future. As most know Turbo cars are real hard on the transmissions and we are eager to put the new setup to the test.

Team Major Sets The Bar in Extreme Radial
11/25/08 - Arriving on Thursday Paul and the team goes a 7.36 @ 203 right off the trailer in testing. The word was out we had the field covered by a minimum of 2 tenths. The next day we would improve on that with a qualifying pass of 7.25 @ 205 and 7.28 @ 204, setting the track records for both ET and MPH. Unfortunately we were plagued with transmission and flex plate issues that prevented us from making the call for the first round of eliminations on Sunday. Never-the-less we made our presence known on the West Coast showing the true potential of trunk mounted turbos, LSx based power plant and the Mickey Thompson drag radials. Click for photo gallery.
Team Major Headed to the Street Car Super Nationals at The Strip in Las Vegas
11/16/08 - The next stop for the Corvette Major team is the Extreme Drag Radial class at the Street Car Super Nationals (SCSN), this coming weekend, Nov 20-23, 2008. The event takes place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nevada, know as The Strip. Currently the car has started its 2,600 mile one way trip. We will be facing some fierce competitors, some of which are listed at the SCSN web site. There will be four qualifying sessions, two Friday and two Saturday with eliminations beginning at 10 AM Vegas time meaning 1 PM Eastern on Sunday. Qualifying for the Extreme Radial class last year was toped with a 7.685 pass. We hope to do well at this race.

Look for live coverage on the internet at www.yourwaynetwork.com all weekend. For other web and print coverage, visit the SCSN coverage section.

11/03/08 - A spectacular weekend comes to conclusion with Paul Major winning the 2008 World Street Nationals Drag Radial class in Oracle, FL. The weekend racing was extended to Monday when eliminations were run after a total wash on Sunday. Paul Major took over the number one qualifying position in the third round of qualifying on Saturday and held it through two additional qualifying sessions. The qualifying ET after the third round was 7.342 @ 101.91. He bettered it in the fifth and final qualifying round with an astounding 7.33 @ 207.08. This earned Paul the bonus for number 1 qualifying. In eliminations, Major worked through the field taking out amongst others, Richard Stine, and winning the final when Scott Bitzer, from Maryland, had an issue leaving the line. A .008 reaction time would have been tough to beat. The win, coupled with the number 1 qualifying earned Paul a total of $5,000 which he is donating to Jenna Barnaby College Fund, Leo's 4 year old daughter. In round 2, Major eclipsed 208 MPH (photo right courtesy of streetlegaltv.com). You can find complete coverage of the event on www.streetlegaltv.com.

Dedicating Orlando to Leo Barnaby III and his Daughter Jenna
10/27/08 - The racing world suffered a huge loss last week when Corvette Major team member and chassis builder, Leo Barnaby III, Neverlift Motorsports, was killed after sustaining injuries to the head in a car accident near his home in New Jersey. Leo was a very close friend and I will miss him a lot. He was not only a chassis builder but a dear friend. He left behind his pride and joy, his daughter Jenna, 4. I am dedicating the World Street Finals this coming weekend, Oct 30 - Nov 2, to Leo and will donate any and all winnings from the race to Jenna's college fund entrusted with his brother Ken. The winner payout for the event is $3,000 and there are bonuses up for grabs of $1,000 for the number one qualifier in the Drag Radial class and also a bonus of $1,000 if a racer can sweep the event, winning and qualifying number 1. A potential of $5,000 is on the line and I hope to be able to bring it home for Leo and Jenna.

Paul Major.

Corvette Ready for Action at the World Street Finals - Orlando, FL
10/27/08 - After having a serious fire in the engine compartment at the LSX Shootout in Memphis, TN just two weeks ago, we are happy to report the car is back together and ready to rock in Orlando. The team leaves for Orlando from New York early Tuesday morning and expects to arrive on Thursday. See you in Orlando.

10/12/08 - After an engine and turbo swap to meet the rules for the Drag Radial class for the GMPP LSX Shootout II in Memphis, TN, we were ready and looking for rematch with Tom Kempf in the marquee class of the event. The event was held in conjunction the National Muscle Car Association, NMCA, at their 7th and final race of the season.

Qualifying was a challenge the entire weekend as we burned a transmission on the first pass then hurt a turbo on the next two. We managed to qualify third with a 7.715 @ 188.33 MPH. In round 1 we faced Brian Krzewinski from Maryland and advanced to round to with a 7.592 @ 190.97 over Brian's 8.396 @ 167.93. Round 2 we were up against Steve Turley from Ohio. After the halfway mark the transmission overheated and blew transmission fluid out of the dipstick and caught fire (video). We lost the round, and suffered damage to the car but the fire suppression system saved the day and it was not a total loss. The motor was coming out anyway for the next race, Orlando Street Worlds Nationals. We did lose the round to add defeat to the damage to the car. Paul Major was unscathed in the fire.

Paul Major Shakedown Has Disappointing Finish

Paul Major
2008 Shakedown at E'town - Photo by gonedragracing.com
10/05/08 - The biggest race of them all, the two-day Shakedown at E’town was held this weekend and Team Major entered the Drag Radial class. Out of 20 entries, we were qualified #2 with a 7.338 @ 204.39 behind David Wolfe, 7.216 @ 201.64. In round 1 of eliminations, we better that with a 7.238 @ 204.63 and a win over Mark Richardson. After a round 2 win over Jay Anderson we headed to the semi-final against Glennie Buckler. We had an issue with the starter and finally got it started as we heard the last call for Radial. Trying to get to the staging lanes was a challenge with exiting big rigs and when we got to the burnout box, it was too late as they were sending Buckler to the starting line. We were back off and Bucker went to the final with a 10.063 pass. Click for Elimination results.

The weekend was not without surprises as after the first qualifying pass we heard a noise we though might mean a motor swap. We pulled the motor out at the rear end of the trailer and found an issue with flex plate and it causes us to miss the second qualifier. All was good however as we made a clean pass in the third round of qualifying and were ready for action for Sunday.

Paul Major First LS Block over 200 MPH
10/03/08 - Rising Sun, MD - In testing for the Shakedown at E'town today, Paul Major accomplished the goal of being first to go over 200 MPH in an LS based block. The numbers were 7.35 @ 205 MPH! The run was done right off the trailer after some tuning tweaks to prepare for his Drag Radial entry at the Shakedown, Oct 3 and 4. He is not only chasing the win but also the national record against top contenders David Wolfe, Dave Hinzman, Alex Vrettos and many more. Hope to see you at E'town. Check back for weekend results later.
Paul Major Goes Into the 7.4's For The First Time
08/09/08 - Englishtown, NJ - Pro 8 Shootout - Paul Major attended the American Racing Headers Pro 8 Shootout today at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. After a long three months getting the chassis dialed in to handle the power put out by the twin turbo system, the magic mix of weight and boost has been found. On the first pass of the day, the C5 Corvette left the line beautifully and blew through the traps at 7.491 @ 189.89 MPH. The crew was elated to get the car down the quarter mile. This was on the heels of a runner-up performance at the Cecil Street Car Shootout last week in the 1/8th mile. The future is looking brighter for the team.

Look for the Corvette Major team next on August 30th at Cecil County Dragway, Rising Sun, MD on August 30th for the Street Car Shootout Drag Radial class. Click for the video.

High Fives In Season Debut for the Twins
04/10/08 - The Corvette Major team made its debut with the twin turbo package, Saturday, April 5th at The Street Car Shootout at Cecil County Dragway, Rising Sun, MD. Overall it was a good day with several runs in the high-5's in this 1/8th mile Drag Radial racing event. Pilot Paul Major and team carried the new setup to a semi-final finish in its first track appearance. The new setup looks very promising. The next outing for the team will be at Atco Raceway, April 26-27 for the Nopi Drag Racing Series. Click for video with Rockin' Rob.
Corvette Major Almost Ready for 2008
03/07/08 - Things are coming along real nice, The 427 CI LSX Motor is in place and the final touches are in the works to complete the new intake manifold. The new American Racing Headers and the complete exhaust system just came back from be coated and is already in place. We expect to have the car up and running by the end of next week. We are real excited about the two series that we will be running this season The Street Car Shootout at Cecil County Dragway, Rising Son, MD, (Drag Radial) and NOPI Drag Racing Series, (Modified). These two series will require two completely different setups. We are currently awaiting new 78mm turbos and have changed our plans for the Warhawk motor it will now be a 449 CI. This is going to be some challenge for the team going from 88s to 78s, Drag Radial to slicks and 1/8 mile to ¼ mile. It’s a real opportunity for us show the talent and abilities of everyone involved and provided the most exposure for our sponsors.

A New Source of Power in 2008 For Corvette Major
Paul Major Twin Turbo Setup 12/23/07 - We are real excited about the upgrades for next season. PCHS Racing Engines is building two new motors, one will be a 427 cid LSX and the other will be a 449 cid Warhawk. Both motors will be equipped with new ET Performance C5R heads with the latest 6 bolt design, Diamond Pistons & Jesel Valvetrain. Turbo People has hooked us with a new 4 core intercooler, a pair of 88mm Turbos and some custom camshafts. American Racing Headers is fabricating a new and improved set of headers to accommodate the recent changes. NRG Tech is helping out with some custom fabrication including the mounting and plumbing of the new turbos. Now with Leo Barnaby from Neverlift Racecraft tuning the suspension and Job Spetter of Turbo People tuning the motor we should be seeing 200mph+ next season on a radial.

Runner-up Finish at Inaugural GMPP LSX Shootout!
11/28/07 - The team headed down to Memphis, TN in October for the first GMPP LSX Shootout. We entered the Drag Radial class and the Dyno Challenge. Qualifying was tough for the class and we qualified 4th overall with an 8.118 @ 178.71. We made it to the final round where we had the ET to get the win but it got away from us on the tree with Tom Kempf (results) taking the win. We did manage to win the Dyno Challenge with over 1100 rwhp.

Corvette Major at No Time Nationals
09/22/07 - Just one week after being at Atco Raceway for the Outlaws at Atco, Paul Major was back with the Corvette at Atco racing in the Drag Radial class at the No Time Nationals. A long day to say the least, where no times are posted on the boards in any class and the ladder is set up randomly so you have no idea how quick your competitor is! We made it past the first round before the event was called off due to curfew after several track cleanups kept the day running longer than expected. We have several photos thanks to Mark at www.godraracing.com in the gallery and a (video) taken by teammate Joe Donnelly.

Corvette Major Goes to the Semi Finals at Outlaws At Atco
09/10/07 - After thrashing to get a motor in the car to the event the Corvette Major team had 8 successful passes this weekend. Two test passes got us ready Friday night. After three qualifying passes the Corvette qualified 4th out of 13 drag radial cars. On Sunday, we won the first two rounds and in the semi final, tire shake led to tire smoke and thus a loss. The car will be out at the No Time Nationals Sunday Sept 16 again at Atco Raceway.
